How to use Tile Cut Plan

Get from empty room to PDF report in under 2 minutes

Quick mode — rectangular rooms

1

Enter your tile size

Type the tile length and width. The app accepts any size — from small mosaics to large-format slabs.

Set the grout gap (default 0.04" (0.1 cm)) and cutting reserve (default 5%) to match your project.
2

Enter room dimensions

Type width and height. The room shape draws automatically. You’ll see the tile count, surface area, and skirting length update in real time.

Switch between mm, cm, and inches using the unit pills at the top. Imperial mode shows feet and inches for room dimensions.
3

Choose a layout pattern

Pick from 8 patterns: Straight, Stack V, Bond ½, Bond ⅓, Double, Offset Diagonal, Diagonal, and Random.

Each pattern shows a live preview with your tile proportions. Waste percentage varies by pattern — straight has the least, diagonal the most.
4

Review the layout

The right column shows three views: the live preview (full layout with dimensions), the cut tile map (which tiles need cutting), and corner cut details (exact cut sizes at each corner).

Adjust placement (Corner, Center, or Opposite corner) to see how cut sizes change. Enable “No thin cuts” to eliminate slivers smaller than one-third of a tile. Use “Full tile from” to lock a full tile to a specific edge.
5

Save and download PDF

Click “+ Save for PDF” to snapshot the current layout. You can save multiple patterns to compare. Then click “Download PDF” to get a one-page report with everything: layout, cut map, corner details, and a shopping list.

The PDF is designed to be printed and taken to the tile shop or handed to your tiler.
Tip: You can save your project under “Saved Projects” and it will be available next time you open the app on the same device.

Pro mode — any room shape

Switch to Pro to tile L-shaped rooms, hallways, or any polygon. Instead of width and height, you type side lengths separated by spaces.

The direction auto-alternates: right → up → left → down. To override, prefix a side with a direction letter:

R:300 → right 300
U:200 ↑ up 200
L:150 ← left 150
D:100 ↓ down 100

Example for an L-shaped room: R:300 U:200 L:150 D:100 L:150 D:100

The app draws the room as you type and closes the shape automatically so you can see the layout preview in real time.

Tip: You can add a background photo of your room or floor plan. Click the camera icon next to the room name, and draw the tiling area over your image.
