Tile Cut Plan ("we", "us", "the app") is a free online tile layout planning tool operated from Bucharest, Romania. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable EU privacy laws.
What data we collect
Data you provide
The app processes room dimensions, tile sizes, and layout preferences that you enter. This data is processed on our servers to compute tile layouts and is not stored permanently. No account or personal information is required to use the app.
Automatically collected data
When you visit our site, we may collect:
- Usage analytics: Pages visited, time spent, features used, number of layouts computed, and general interaction patterns. This helps us improve the app.
- Device information: Browser type, screen size, operating system, and language preference. No device fingerprinting is performed.
- Location (country level): Derived from your IP address to understand our user base geographically. Your IP address is anonymised and not stored in full.
Data stored on your device
The app uses your browser's localStorage to save:
- Your saved projects (room layouts and tile configurations)
- Unit preferences (metric or imperial)
- App mode preference (Quick or Pro)
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to download a PDF report. We cannot access, read, or delete your localStorage data.

- Compute tile layouts in response to your input (necessary for the service)
- Understand how the app is used and identify areas for improvement
- Monitor service performance and detect technical issues

Legal basis for processing
- Contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): Processing your room and tile data to provide the layout computation service you request.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): Collecting anonymous, aggregate usage statistics to improve the service. You can opt out via cookie settings.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): Analytics cookies are only set after you give explicit consent via the cookie banner.
Data retention
- Layout computation data: Processed in memory, not stored. Deleted immediately after the response is sent.
- Analytics data: Retained in anonymised, aggregate form for up to 24 months.
- Server logs: Basic access logs retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes, then automatically deleted.
Your rights under GDPR
As an EU resident, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate personal data
- Erase your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict processing of your personal data
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
